Westmoreland English Hobnail Glass Luncheon Set- Great For Parties

Past few weeks, I've been planning for not one, but two, baby showers.  Baby showers can sometimes be as almost stressful as wedding showers, with all the planning, making sure you have all the necessities, with hopes that you have everything you need for the party.

From thinking about everything I need for the 'theme' of the party to whether I've covered all basics, I tend to find myself trying to make everything perfect...or as near perfect as I can.

One of the things I find as a must have, is glassware.  Any type of glass dishes, bowls or candy cups that will add elegance to a party.  The glass set shown here, is the Westmoreland English Hobnail Glass Luncheon Set, sold by Invitingly Vintage, on Etsy.

If you are looking for unique pieces, Etsy is the place to go.  It's one of the first places I look, for that one of a kind item. This Westmoreland English Hobnail Glass Luncheon Set comes with 6 pieces.  It consists of 2 luncheon plates, 2 grapefruit bowls and 2 condiment cups.  This luncheon set is absolutely gorgeous!  The way the glassware shines underneath the lights, it's so beautifully made!

The set was made in Westmoreland between 1920-1940's.  The plates have an overall pattern of English Hobnail, along the edge of the plates, with a sawtooth rim.  The bottom of the plates have a pressed glass geometric pattern, very unique and elegant. The condiment or dip cups are small, dainty and have an English Hobnail pattern, as well as a pedestal base and a sawtooth rim.

The dimensions of the set are:

  • Grapefruit Bowls - 1 3/8 inches tall & 6 3/4" wide
  • Luncheon Plates-   8 1/4 inches tall
  • Nut/candy/condiment cups - 3 inches long, 2 inches tall & 1 3/4 inches wide
This Westmoreland English Hobnail Glass Luncheon Set is ideal and perfect for weddings, baby showers, parties, special occasions and holidays.  I wish you could see these dishes in person.  I can't explain just how beautiful this set is...the photos don't do them justice.

If you are into vintage pieces and looking for elegant and classy glass dish sets for your party, head on over to Invitingly Vintage, on Etsy, and check out all the things Mel has to offer!  They also have a beautiful Vintage Blue Willow Luncheon Set that reminds me of the dishes my grandmother used to have.

Francois et Mimi Stacking Mug Set with Rack Review

Anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE my coffee!  I have to have a cup in the morning and a cup or two in the afternoon, during work and sometime a cup at night before I go to bed.  Yep, that's right....a cup before I go to bed!

My cupboard is full of coffee cups and it's beginning to be where there is no way I can collect or buy any more coffee cups, because I have no room to store them!  Well, that is not the case with this set of 4 mugs!  These mugs come in their own holding rack and can be placed on your counter top!  I love it!  This way, these colorful and bright mugs can be displayed, out in the open, without taking up much room.

As you can see in the photo, the mugs are different colors, but the mugs also have alternating colored handles, that are not of the same color of the mugs, but compliments the colored mugs perfectly. I love the size of these mugs...they are slightly larger than my coffee cup, but about the same height.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
* Dishwasher Safe
* Microwave Safe
* Colorful and Bright
* Lead Free
* Made of Stoneware Ceramic

I absolutely fell in love with these mugs AND the storage rack!  I love displaying these colorful cups on my counter top.  If you want these colorful stackable mugs, head on over to Amazon and get yours today.  They are on sale for $29.95 and well worth it!

Thermo Dish Review

A gal can never have too many bowls and storage dishes in her kitchen, for me at least!  What better way to store hot and cold food, then in this 6 piece set of Thermo Dishes!  I was thrilled when I was approved to test and review these dishes, as it's not every day I have thermo dishes in my kitchen.

It seems like every time I cook food and try to keep the food warm while the rest of my dinner is cooking, something gets cold and then I have to reheat it.  This Thermo Dish set solves that!  No more lukewarm food for me!

The set I received was the white with red and is by the company, Pinnacle.  The set comes with a 0.5 qt container with lid, 1 qt container with lid and 2.5 qt dish with lid.  Colors that were available were Purple, Red and Turquoise.

First, when I received my set, I washed them with sudsy water.  These dishes are NOT dishwasher or microwave safe, therefore, you will have to wash them by hand.  To me, that didn't bother me.  They are very easy to clean, with no fuss.

Next, before you store your hot or cold food in these dishes, it is recommended that you fill the dishes up with hot or cold water and let set for at least 5 minutes.  This is suppose to activate the thermo ability.

I tested these this past weekend and followed the above instructions.  I then made some potato salad and wanted to keep it warm.  After about 2 hours, the potato salad was still warm and did not get cold.  I was impressed.  These dishes, when following instructions for first use, is said to keep your food warm or cold for 4-6 hours.

The lids lock, to keep food fresh and safe from spilling and makes it easy for transporting to school, picnics, family gatherings and more.  It is recommended that when transporting, you want to make sure that the dishes are sitting upright and not on it's side.

Dishes are made with an inner stainless steel construction (hence, not microwave safe) and has a polyurethane insulation with locking lids. You can grab your own set of these Thermo dishes at Amazon . This Thermo 6 piece dish set retails for $61.45, but is on sale at Amazon for $38.99.
