Sweet Cocktail Weenies
Everyone has their own cocktail weenie (sausage) recipe and there are so many ways of preparing these little gems, that any way you cook them up, they are sure to be a hit. There are many varieties to this recipe, but the recipe below, is my favorite way of serving these little cocktail weenies up.
These cocktail weenies are the perfect appetizer for any summer (or winter) day and are idea for parties, wedding receptions, holidays or any other day that you want something simple and need an appetizer.
INGREDIENTS:
(2) 16 oz pkg of cocktail sausages
(1) 8oz. jar Grape Jelly
1 TBS prepare Mustard
Combine the sausages with the grape jelly and mustard in a medium size pot and cook on medium heat for approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours. THAT'S IT! Easy Peasy!
You can also add a 12 oz bottle of BBQ sauce to this as well as substitute Apricot jelly in place of the Grape jelly. You can also leave out the mustard if you don't want the tangy taste. There are so many ways to prepare these. Some people like to add a jar of Chili Sauce to the cocktail sausages and just leave out the Mustard and the Grape jelly, but I prefer the Grape jelly because you get that sweetness from the jelly.
If you have a favorite way of preparing these cocktail weenies, send me a comment. I would love to hear what your favorite recipe is. You may find your recipe here on my blog.
