Hey guys! Today, I'm doing something a little different. I want to introduce, Rachel Watson. Rachel is the website manager of OurStart.com. OurStart is a lifestyle blog for women in their 20s and 30s. They regularly publish content around pregnancy, parenting, weddings, and the workplace. When she is not writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring cute cafes, and playing with her miniature schnauzer.
She was gracious enough to do a guest post on The Best Gifts To Buy An Expecting Mother This Holiday Season. These are awesome gift ideas and some, I would have never thought of, such as the Pregnancy Coffee! I hope you enjoy!
As the holiday season is upon us, it is the time of year where we start looking for ways to bless other people. This is mostly done through the gifts we give. There is truly nothing better than giving someone a gift you just know they are going to love. It is so exciting to watch their faces light up when they open the box. Expecting mothers are definitely in need during the holiday season. Though they may have gotten plenty of gifts for the baby when they had their baby shower, they may be feeling a little bit neglected themselves. Here are our gift ideas for expecting mothers!
Any and All Maternity Wear
One of the hardest things about being pregnant is not spending a fortune on a new wardrobe as your baby grows. This is especially tricky in the pants department. A great gift for a new mother to be might be maternity jeans or lounge pants. That way they will be able to go out stylishly in public, while not feeling uncomfortable or struggling to find something to wear.
Flowy tops and tunics are also a great option. The mom to be may even be able to wear these tops after her baby is born if they aren’t too large. Maternity pajamas, underwear, socks, and any other item of clothing is something you can’t go wrong with gifting to any expecting mother in any trimester.
A Pregnancy Pillow
Once your baby expands during your 2nd and 3rd trimester, many women are suddenly unable to sleep on their stomach or sides. Most people in the world end up sleeping either on their stomach or sides, so it can be hard for pregnant women to get more sleep comfortably when they have to change their regular sleeping routine. This is where a pregnancy pillows come in. They allow you to lay on your back, while tilted to the side to support your baby bump. This will help you to sleep more comfortably, without fear that you are disrupting or hurting your baby.
Lotion and Skin-Care Products
Because so much of your skin stretches during pregnancy, it can become itching and irritable around your stomach area. Buying pregnancy lotions, or even just your bestie’s favorite from Bath and Body Works can be a great way to soothe their skin during this transition.
Pregnancy Journal
Have a friend who is just getting started on their pregnancy journey? Then a pregnancy journal may be perfect for them. Give them a space where they can mark their progress, thoughts, and feelings while pregnant. There are also places where they can place pictures and memories of their time as an expecting mother. This is a thoughtful gift that they will be able to use and look back on for years to come.
Frame A Sonogram
Nothing is more precious to an expecting mother than a picture of her unborn child in the womb. Even though she may have printed out that moment, she might not have framed it. If she is further along in her pregnancy, try to do picture frames of all the different sonograms she has had taken over the course of her journey. This is a touching gift they can hang in the baby’s nursery or family room for all to see.
The Gift Of Time
Your friend is going to be extremely stressed the first couple of weeks after her little one is born, so why not offer to help out. Give your friend and her husband a gift card and say you’ll watch the baby while they have a date night. Offer to come over and do laundry when she needs it sometime. Even cleaning the house could be a fantastic gift. This is great if you don’t have a lot of extra money to spend. And your friend will appreciate it after her new baby has arrived.
Pregnancy Coffee
Yes, you are supposed to limit your caffeine intake during pregnancy, but some of my ladies out there need their coffee. Luckily, there is a solution that helps both you and your baby. Mommee Coffee makes a low acid coffee that is safe for pregnant women to drink. If you have a friend who is a coffee addict and missing their daily cup, this is the ideal gift for them.
Christmas Ornament
Christmas ornaments are often overlooked Christmas presents that can bring so much meaning to someone’s life. This is something they can look back on for years to come, and remember you as they add it to their Christmas tree. Get a gift of a baby’s first Christmas, or expecting mother ornament. This will look perfect on their tree and help include their new baby in their Christmas celebrations.
