Ok...This may not be a Freezer to Crock pot meal, but these wings are AWESOME! I've had this recipe for many many years, and I'm always changing them up a bit, but here is the original recipe that I got from a friend I would say, about 15+ years ago. If you love hot wings, I believe you will really love these, because they are just a tad bit different than your traditional hot wings.
INGREDIENTS
1 Family size pkg of Wings
Hot Sauce ( I actually use store brand Habenero)
1 bottle of Sweet N Spicy French dressing (or any French or Catalina)
1/2 bottle Fat Free Italian dressing
flour (for batter)
Oil (for frying)
First, Preheat oven to 350 degrees (yes, you will be placing these into the oven)
Add oil to skillet, about 2 inches deep. (oil will be hot enough when you sprinkle a little flour into it and it starts to sizzle, just a tad bit)
Next, flour your wings as you normally would when frying. Add floured wings to hot oil and fry til golden brown. In the meantime, add your whole bottle of French dressing and half bottle of Fat Free Italian dressing to a SEPARATE large sauce pan or Dutch oven over med heat.
Remove wings and place on a plate layered with paper towels, to allow to drain. Next, place in a large bowl and coat with enough Habenero or hot sauce, just to coat.
Then place the wings into the Dressing mixture (the one in the separate large sauce pan or Dutch oven) and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
Remove the wings from the dressing mixture and place on a buttered cookie sheet. If you like, you can add a little of the remaining dressing mixture over the wings (and for extra heat, add a little more hot sauce before placing in oven)
Place in the preheated oven and let cook until bubbly, approximately 15-20 minutes, as the wings are already cooked, you are just allowing the dressing and hot sauce soak in and get a little bubbly.
VARIATIONS:
* Switch up on your dressings
* Serve with Ranch or Blue Cheese dressing
* Instead of the dressing mixture, use BBQ sauce and honey, along with hot sauce
* Fry your wings and just coat in Buffalo Wing Sauce and place in preheated oven, just long enough to heat up the sauce.
As you can see...I've served mine with fried green tomatoes!
