I'm always looking for a fast and easy meal that I can prepare, even though my husband likes to eat as soon as he gets home from work. In other words, he wants to eat around 3:00 pm! Who eats supper this early? WHO?! Well, I can't really blame him since he works for a Vending company and usually goes all day long without eating hardly anything, especially since he's gone from home by 4 AM.
I've come across a recipe, that I use frequently, that turns pork chops into something a little different. If you love pork chops and you love Sauerkraut, then you'll love this pork chop dish. I know Sauerkraut can be a little tart for some, but once it's cooked, it loses some of it's tartness. And the best thing is that it's only TWO ingredients. Let me know how you like it.
Crock Pot Pork Chops and Kraut
serves approx: 4
1 can of Sauerkraut
4 - 6 boneless pork chops
Place the pork chops in the crock pot and empty the can of Kraut on top of the chops. Cook on high for 4 - 5 hours or low for 5 - 6 hours. THAT'S IT!
Pork chops normally don't take as long as other meats to cook and they can tend to be dry if overcooked. You can tell when the chops are done by testing it with a fork. The pork chops should flake a little when pulled with a fork.
Try adding one or a few of these ingredients for a different taste:
VARIATIONS: 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 med. sliced onion
1/4 - 1/3 cup beef broth
couple sliced lemons or 1 tsp lemon pepper
1 bottle of beer or lager
14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes or small can tomato sauce
NOTE: You can double this if you need more servings. Add another can of Sauerkraut if using more than 6 pork chops. If you like a LOT of Sauerkraut, use two cans with the above recipe.
